- In a letter 2007 William "Bill" Wall Tennis stated that his ancestor did come from MD but that his Abraham b. 7 Mar. 1692 was naturalized at Germantown, PA.
This researcher does not think this is the correct Abraham. He ancestor given his DNA testing into our family was Abraham b. 1676 through his son Joshua b. 1734.
We have documentation the Joshua moved to the eastern shore of VA and used the surname TENNIS.
William said that he found a John Tennis b, 27 Au 1774 MD; d. 28 Feb, 1862. His brother Aaron Tennis died in the Battle of Hampton, VA. According to William's father, Melvin Tennis, an early genealogist...."John Tennis m. Polly Roberts in York Co. VA. " [Source: William and Mary Quarterly Vol. 14 (1906) pg. 276).
Other researcher document that Polly Roberts married John Tennis' brother, Aaron Tennis
DNA tests from two males in this branch confirms that the Tennis men who moved to the VA. coast are indeed part of the Tensions family of MD.
