  Notes	Note that Rebecca is the child of Elizabeth “Betty” Cheatwood and her second husband Edmund Lyon. Her first husband was John Tennison who died in 1808 in Caswell County, NC. This family remained close to the sons of John Tennison and after living several years in Warren Co., TN moved to Overton Co., TN where the sons of John Tennison lived. Rebecca married the son of her step brother Levi Dennis.

  We have receive DNA confirmation that son Levi H. Dennis b. ca. 1815 is a member of our family. DNA markers suggest that he is closely related to the DNA testers in John and James Dennis lines, both sons of John Tennison of Caswell Co., NC. Researcher Rick Tidwell found digitized death records of three children of Levi H and wife Rebecca. The death certificates show that Rebecca's maiden was Lyons and she was 16 when the first child was born. Levi H. was 20 years old documenting his birth year as 1815 and Rebecca b. 1819. Also found was a petition that Rebeca filed for divorce in 1868 in Overton County, TN. Apparently she did not follow through as they moved to Allen Co., KY before the 1870 census. Two of Levi's brothers also moved to Allen Co., KY. Allen County was located close to Overton County TN. These families were the only ones to relocate to that county. No direct documentation on the connection betweenJohn Tenniosn’s son Levi Dennis b. 1778 MD and his sons: James M; John ; Gabriel Dennis; and William Gene Dennis. Descendants of the other sons of Overton County John Tennison are documented and the remain known Overton Co, TN males are by default are assigned to Levi.
