When Sarah Highfield was born in 1789 in Fayette, Kentucky, her father, Jeremiah, was 39, and her mother, Sabra, was 38. She married Jesse Dennis on August 5, 1805, in Woodford, Kentucky. They had three children in 12 years. She died in 1825 in Franklin, Kentucky, at the age of 36.
