- Isaac owned land in Woodleaf, NC (outside Salisbury, NC). Old house was the post office.
“ Isaac, Rebecca (2nd wife), and their children, and Suzanne’s children, along with a young Bachelor named Thomas Breedlove were on their way to settle in Texas from Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina, when they were stranded in a snow storm in Mississippi. (The area is now called Burton, MS). He apparently pitched his tent and decided to call that Texas).” [fr. Melvin V. Lambert, 1998, correspondents]. State census shows that he was in Tishimingo Co.,MS in 1845 state census. Parts of Tishimingo Co., MS later became Prentiss and Burton Counties. In 1850 Tishomingo County, MS. census Issac Tennison is listed with wife Rebecca and the 3 youngest children: Hiram A, age 12; Robt age 10, and Martha L age 8. Also listed is George Wilkinson age 21.
Isaac is buried on On Road” before the Forks Oak Church in Burton’s, MS. Buried in a field on Gerald Tennyson’s farm, His and Rebecca’s graves were destroyed by house construction.
