- Ignatius middle name has been spelled: Nevit, Nevil, Newil; Navie, or Nevin. His daughter, Elizabeth Ford, named one of her female children "Zillah Nevet Ford".
Ignatius was in Prince George's Co. MD before 1776 and then moved to Fredrick Co., VA. He continued traveling to Caswell County, NC. First record found for him in NC is in 1782. Ignatious' brother John left Maryland in 1778 and was recorded in tax list in Caswell Co., NC in 1786. There are also records for both Ignatius and his brother John in Pittsylvania Co. VA which adjoined Caswell Co. NC to the north. Land deeds indicate that both Tennison's land was in the northwest corner of Caswell Co. and very likely touching the border with Virginia. Local researchers have indicate that the border changed several times. A twisting river running through the area may have contributed to border differences.
1800 Census, Hillsboro, Caswell, NC for Ignatious' family.

Ignatius N. and family started moving up to Green Co., KY. In 1810 Ignatius is taxed on 200 ac on Pitman Creek in Green Co. KY.
1811 and forward, no Ignatius listed in either Caswell Co., NC or Green Co., KY.
In 1811 Mary Ah (sure looks like Ah but perhaps could have meant to be An or Ann) was taxed on the 200 acres on Pitman Creek, Green Co. KY.
So, apparently the "old" Ig alive in 1810 and not 1811." [info fr. Robbie Tennison Glover, 2011]
In Caswell Co. NC records, John and his brother Ignatius N. are sometimes called Tennison and sometimes called Dennis, and in some documents both names are used. Each is found in records of the other. After the death of John Tennison in 1808 his sons started using the surname Dennis and Ignatius and family tended to use Tennison.
